Acular Medicine - Uses, Dosage and Side Effects

By: alien Ophthalmic ketorolac is used in the eye to treat itching caused by seasonal allergic conjunctivitis (an allergy that occurs at only certain times of the year). Ophthalmic ketorolac is also used to treat inflammation of the eye following cataract surgery.

This medicine may also be used to prevent or treat other conditions, as determined by your ophthalmologist.

Acular Dosage

*For Itchy Eyes, the usual dose is 1 drop 4 times a day.
*After Cataract Surgery, the usual dose is 1 drop 4 times a day, beginning 24 hours after the operation and continuing for the first 2 weeks post surgery.

Uses of Acular

*This medication is used to relieve itching of the eye(s) that may caused by seasonal allergies.
It is also used to prevent and treat inflammation of the eye(s) due to cataract removal.

Side Effects of Acular

*Before taken Acular medicine, you should discuss the side effects with your doctor. If any develop or change in intensity, then you should inform your doctor as soon as possible. Because only your doctor can determine if it is safe for you to continue taking Acular. Side effects may include:

*Temporary stinging
*burning

Warnings and precautions before taking Acular

*A history of reactions to other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including aspirin, makes a reaction to Acular more likely. Tell the doctor about any drug reactions you've experienced.
*You should tell your doctor your medical history such as including bleeding disorders, previous eye surgery, certain eye diseases, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, liver or kidney disease, asthma, nasal polyps, any allergies - especially such as including aspirin/NSAID allergy.
*Do not use this medication without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or you are breast-feeding a baby.
*Before taking ketorolac, you should tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or to aspirin or other NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, celecoxib or if you have any other allergies.
*Take this medication exactly as it was prescribed for you. Do not take the medication in larger amounts, or take it for longer than recommended by your doctor.

Drug Interaction :-

If you are taking Acular with certain other drugs, then it may be increased, decreased, or altered the effects of medicine. So it is especially important to check with your doctor before combining Acular with the other drugs. No interactions with Acular have been reported.

Overdose

There is no information on Acular overdose. But after taken Acular if you feel that overdose is suspected, then you should contact with your doctor immediately. Because it may lead to another serious effect.

An overdose of this medication is unlikely to threaten life. If you suspect an overdose or if the drops have been ingested, call an emergency room or poison control left for advice.
