Aluminum Siding And Awnings

By: Harry Browar Aluminum siding is widely used to protect houses and for adding value to it. It is made of different materials most common being aluminum and vinyl. These materials are used to provide durability and for decoration purposes. They are sold in panels of 12 x 36 or 12 x 48 and can last for up to fourty years.

You can install the aluminum siding yourself as they come complete with every possible thing you will need to install it. Installing the aluminum siding yourself can consume your time but you can save a lot of money on this. But the help of a guide is essential to give the installation of the siding a touch of perfection. To install the aluminum siding properly you will need some basic tools listed below:

1. Chalk line 2. Screwdriver set 3. Tin snips 4. Hammer 5. Level 6. A utility knife - you will use this to cut, score, and trim the aluminum siding.

Before installing your siding you will need to be sure whether your backing will allow the panels to lie flat. A backing that is commonly used for aluminum siding is 3/8กจ foam board insulation. This will allow the panels to lie flat.

Remember not to nail the panels in too tight. You should try to nail it without stretching the panel. Place your nails and fasteners in the center of the slot and do not drive them too tightly beside the siding nail hem. Leave a minimum clearance space of 1/4กจ.

While nailing the corner posts, there are few suggestions which you should keep in mind. Corner posts are used to cover the ends of the panel, so you should not alter them. A j-channel can instead be used for trimming the ends of the panels. The vertical seams should always overlap to keep the siding closed. Always read the directions carefully before installing the aluminum, because if it is set in a haphazard way the beauty of the siding will be destroyed. However, if you do not have enough time to set the aluminum siding, it is best advised to call a professional, instead of ruining the installation.

Aluminum is a useful metal for household purposes. It can be used as blinds, sun shade or in a canopy. Aluminum sheets on your windows will block the sun light from coming into your house, always keeping it cool. This is not only cost effective, but will increase the beauty of your home thus increasing its value.

Aluminum canopies are a very good way of covering your deck from the heat. The shelter of an aluminum canopy enables you to sit out in the heat without any trouble. It will keep your deck cool with its natural light reflecting ability. This is particularly effective in summer. It also protects your deck from the sun.

Thus aluminum siding is the best and most cost effective way of keeping your home beautiful and at the same time cool. If you are thinking of selling your house, these two ways mentioned above can be very effective in increasing the resale value of your house.
