Bridal Shower Fun Food

By: Sarah Roberts When planning food for a bridal shower, there are plenty of things that you can serve. Likewise, there are some things that should be avoided. The center of attraction is obviously the bride. So find out what she likes best and what she doesn't like. Refrain from serving foods that can trigger off allergies. Ask the guests if they have any food allergies or special diets so they can be omitted.

Now for the fun part. Presumably you have a theme for the bridal shower so try and see that at least a few of the dishes fit into this. Besides that, a good idea would be to have a brunch party, preferably on a Sunday so it could stretch into a long, lazy afternoon. If it is informal, that would be nice because it will give all the guests a chance to move around and get to know each other. You could have a corner of fresh breads and another of fresh fruits. A lot of people have been serving bite size quiche and this could be a great idea. You could have the drinks counter on one side with a punch and cocktails as well as fresh fruit juices and coffee. Fruit based desserts like strawberries that are chocolate coated and lemon squares could finish it off quite well.

If you or the bride prefer to have it in the evening, a casserole might be a good idea because you could circulate while it is cooking or heating up. It could always be made earlier and you could heat it just before you serve it. You could also consider lasagna and have a great big salad to go with it. For an evening do, food like this is great because you can do everything ahead of time and you don't have to be around in the kitchen when the guests walk in. You could also have a smoked or a grilled dish and just take an occasional peek into the kitchen while it is cooking.

Before the party, ensure that any vegan or vegetarian guests are catered for. Offer a vegetable alternative casserole or lasagna. The Internet has lots of vegetarian recipes

Cake could be the dessert considering it is a bridal shower. But so many wedding showers today do not follow customs that are traditional so you can feel free to break tradition and have some other desserts. Maybe a table of different desserts or a choice of pies or fruits along with cake. A chocolate fountain can be easily rented to make for a great centerpiece.

Maybe you would prefer something lighter. Finger food is great. You can have a table filled with plenty of light bites that people can just help themselves to, thus enabling them to walk around and talk to the others. Some ideas to serve are cheese and crackers, dips, tiny muffins and similar items.

The choice is yours - and of course the bride's but choosing the food well could mean a great bridal or wedding shower.
