Diabetic Diet: 5 More Ways To Lower Your Blood Sugar Level

By: Delynda Lardone Most diabetics find out very quickly that they must regulate their blood sugar levels through a diabetic diet. If the sugar is left in there blood for a long period of time, it can cause great damage to their heart, nerves, kidneys, and eyes. So, one must find a way to lower their blood sugar level so they can remain in good health.

As I stated in my previous article, there are some great and natural ways for a diabetic to lower their blood sugar level. These methods were drinking water, cinnamon, exercising, ginseng, and apple cider vinegar. Now here are 5 further natural approaches you can incorporate into your daily meals to help you lower your blood sugar.

One simple method is watching the food you eat. If at all possible, you need to eat low-glycolic foods. These foods are broken down and distributed throughout your body much slower thus keeping your sugar level from spiking too high. These foods consist of peas, fruits, peanuts, granola, and oatmeal. Hint: combine some oatmeal with a couple of teaspoons of cinnamon, mentioned in my previous article, and you will have a great meal that will keep your blood sugar very stable. Plus, it's yummy.

Another way is too drink decaffeinated coffee. Studies have shown that if you combine coffee with some simple sugar items like donuts or a Cinnabon cinnamon roll, that it will decrease the rise of your blood sugar level. It does this because of a chemical that is found in the plant that helps slow the rate at which your intestines absorb the sugar. Please note however, caffeinated coffee does not do this.

Relaxation is an excellent way to lower your blood sugar level. It has been proven that when you relax, your body releases a chemical that actually lowers your blood sugar level. The exact opposite happens when you become stressed because it releases a chemical that makes your blood sugar level soar sky high. So, try to get some relaxation throughout your day and you will feel much better.

Garlic and onions not only keeps the vampires away, they also help keep your blood sugar level at a normal level. They do this because of a certain chemical that can be found within the garlic and onions. This chemical makes the pancreas produce more insulin to handle the extra sugar.

A good laugh a day will keep the blood sugar spikes away. Yes, laughing lowers your blood sugar level. A group of scientists in Japan found this out in a study they performed. They said when people laugh, their body starts excreting a certain chemical that actually works to lower your blood sugar level.

Diabetics have to closely watch their daily diet so they can keep their blood sugar level at a stable level, which is a constant battle. They need to seek out ways in which they can lower their blood sugar level to steer clear of major health problems. If you just integrate all these tips into your diabetic diet, you will soon find it is quite easy to keep your blood sugar level normal.
