Garden Decor Gifts for the Holidays

By: Aleah Adcock While we talk about giving presents and love this time of year, I find it annoying that I have such issues finding the perfect gifts for my friends and family. I know I'm supposed to be jolly but it's hard to be happy and enjoy the holidays when you have this pressure to find the right gift for everyone on your list.
After fighting the crowds and traffic I finally get to the mall only to discover that the outdoor gifts I am looking to give are not in stock because they are out of season. It's crazy because what I would like to give is not available.
These are the reasons that I find I like doing most of my Christmas shopping on the internet. There are some real advantages when you are shopping for items that are "out of season" or considered seasonal. The internet stores don't have the inventory moving issues that brick and mortar stores have so there is no stock they are trying to move during a specific season.
One of the things about online stores is the variety of products for every price range whether it is for twenty dollars or two thousand dollars. You can find something for everybody even if it is a simple garden trinket or an expensive outdoor treasure.
There are always the staples; baskets, flower pots and planters that every gardener will use from year to year. These can and will be used, so I know I can always fall back on one of these items if I can't find anything else to give.
Then you have the gifts for the designer gardener. These are the guys and gals that have every flower marked with a tag, a sitting area that looks like it could be in a magazine and small garden treasures scattered throughout their garden domain. I call them the sentimental gardeners. They have a story to tell about each garden trinket and love receiving more.
I look for things like gazing balls and statues, designer birdbaths and feeders and generally anything that is both different and useful. My main goal is to give them something that they will want to remember our relationship by; something meaningful. I know this is the type of gift they enjoy receiving the most and I enjoy giving the most.
I also love to shop online because I don't like to pack, wrap or ship anything. Buying online and having them ship it is great! Free shipping is fine but even if I have to pay for shipping, I will. Just the fact that someone else is doing it is a deal to me.
I also know that most of the free shipping prices have the cost built in so, one way or the other; you're paying the cost of shipping. I wonder about the so-called "experts" that are telling everyone what a deal free shipping is? I guess they think we consumers will just blindly follow their advice. Personally, I find a company that has a good selection that I like dealing with and shop away. Don't you?
