How To Boost Affiliate Program Revenues With Presell Pages

By: Jeff Alderson One would be hard pressed to find a website or blog owner who didn't want to make a little money for their efforts. On-site advertising, affiliate programs and product sales can be the answer. Unfortunately, all of these money-making prospects require visitors to physically do something for the site owner to realize a return.

In most cases, affiliate programs in particular, demand that visitors on the referring site click on a link and follow it through to another website. The affiliate site then might even require an outright purchase or some other action to take place before a single penny is earned. Raising the chances for success in this actually happening often falls on the referring site's ability to capture readers' attention with ads and affiliate program links.

Although direct affiliate links can be great revenue generators in some cases, they don't always pay off. The fact is these links send people away from the referring site, often leaving the closing up to the program site itself. If the site happens to be poor in design or if its landing page leaves a lot to be desired, all interest might be lost.

Fortunately, there are some things website and blog owners can do to increase their money-making chances. Touting products or services on the referring site through presell pages is one of the most effective ways to go. These special pages do nothing more than provide information about the product or service. They are hosted within the referring site, and simply are designed to help close a sale or prompt an action before a reader leaves. Rather than place affiliate links in blog articles, chat forums, ads or other spots on a site, presell pages are the ones that offer them.

The benefits of having dedicated presell pages are many. Depending on how these pages are used to their creator's advantage, they can produce indirect revenue on their own, as well. One of the biggest potential money making benefits of presell pages involves their ability to draw search engine traffic. These pages tend to be keyword heavy, so they appear on searches. If the words are properly optimized, this kind of page can actually draw a lot of traffic. This, of course, produces the offshoot benefit of more visitors, which can lead to bigger and better ad revenues and affiliate buys.

Jolting traffic numbers is just the start of the perks presell pages can deliver. These pages can create a sense of trust with new readers and can even be the lynchpin in inspiring the trust existing readers have in a site to get them to click on and follow through with links. If presell pages are handled correctly and information presented is honest, they can increase a site's credibility. These pages are also wonderful for helping with offsite promotions. Instead of a site owner placing affiliate program links in their posts on other sites, in chat forums and other similar locations, the presell links are better choices. They are not viewed in the same negative light on other sites as direct affiliate links are. In addition, these pages provide perfect reference links for future content creation.

Whipping up pages to presell products or services isn't terribly involved. One of the best ways to go is to simply creating a new page, writing a review or endorsement and then making sure a link to the presell page is very visible on the site. A special recommendations section or nice looking banner ad can work wonders here.

It is fairly important to follow a few guidelines when creating these pages. The biggest thing to do is to refrain from any hard sell tactics. Honesty and balance are important. Try to include the affiliate link several times in the text, but make sure not to sidetrack readers with links to other products, services or even internal pages. Cloaking of links can help, but it's not always necessary. The copy itself should be easy to read, fairly brief and simple to digest. Be certain readers get the "so what" factor covered. They need to know why the product or service should be important to them.

Presell pages are not "required" to earn money from affiliate programs. They can boost chances for income potential, however. When site owners carefully review and understand the products and services they tout on their sites, informative presell pages can make a really big difference in enticing visitors to respond and act.
