Is Acupuncture Your Saviour From Pain?

By: Roberts Acupuncture is an ancient alternative form of treatment, for illnesses in the different body systems, that has been in existence for hundreds of years. It makes use of thin, sterile, stainless steel needles, inserted into identified acupuncture points, depending on he part of the body that is affected with illness.

The acupuncture session is often in combination with other forms of therapy for better results. Treatments are normally scheduled weekly, then at a reduced frequency as the patient's health improves. Acupuncture can only be effective in the hands of a certified practitioner, who truly understands the fundamentals of the traditional Chinese acupuncture.

Qi flows in the human body as shown in the acupuncture chart. The lines indicating the flow of Qi are called meridians or pathways. Blocked pathways can reduced the amount of Qi flowing in the body and consequently, imbalances happen. It is part of the belief that illnesses are caused by any imbalances of the Yin and Yang the terms for the positive and negative forces respectively of expansion or contraction.
