Is Apple Cider Vinegar Technique Just A Weight Loss Fad?

By: Rohit Chopra Though it may appear so, but apple cider vinegar used for losing weight is definitely not just a fad. Going back centuries it can be traced to the ancient Egyptians. The claim is rooted in science which says that the presence of sufficient vinegar in your body will not allow you to absorb the dietary oils and fats and they will be flushed out. This is based on the fact that oil and vinegar do not mix.

Salad analogy: The analogy is that of salad dressing in apple cider vinegar weight loss product, referring to how oil and vinegar do not mix in that. Unfortunately, doctors and scientists have not found any definite and real correlation between weight loss and apple cider vinegar. Though you may not gain weight, it may not burn your calories either.

Flip side:

While on an apple cider vinegar weight loss program you may become complacent and go on eating binges and not renew your gym membership. This false sense of security could set you back in your weight loss goals. There are many websites selling herbal and natural products which claim that two teaspoons or three caplets of apple cider vinegar will help you lose weight drastically. They claim that their ingredient of fresh apples, pectin which is a soluble fibre, is beneficial in lowering cholesterol and lecithin will burn calories 24 hours a day. It is advertised on TV, websites and magazines as 100 % safe and guaranteed. However, medical experts agree only on one count that a diet rich in all fruits and vegetables( and not just apples) and moderate amounts of all other food groups can successfully lead to weight loss. Apple cider vinegar in isolation can not do so.

The fine print: The manufacturers advise that over and above the requisite minimum of eight glasses of water you should drink at l east 2-3 extra glasses of water which however, may not be to your liking. Another caveat is that it proclaims that the product can not give remarkable results on its own and hence should be used in tandem with a right diet and exercise regime.
