Lowering Your High Blood Pressure At Any Age

By: Daniel Lee. Lowering your blood pressure can cut your overall chance of death by 21%! Read on to learn about this study and find out how you can benefit.

A study was recently conducted to find out just how much difference it makes to lower blood pressure in elderly patients. The results were so dramatically clear that the study was halted early so that everyone participating could benefit.

Spread across 13 countries and 195 hospitals with 3,845 volunteers, the study was conducted on individuals with an average blood pressure of 173/91.

The four year study found that by lowering the blood pressure to an average of 150/61 the patients suffered an overall drop in mortality rates. Specifically, there was a 23% reduction in the death rate from cardiovascular events, a 30% reduction in stroke rate, a 39% reduction in death from stroke, 21% reduction in overall mortality and an astounding 64% reduction in death rate from heart failure.

The implications are clear for all of us. A lower blood pressure is essential to good health and long life.

Did you know there are many, many things you can do to maintain healthy blood pressure? Here are the most basic and are a great starting point to keeping your blood pressure where it should be:

* No more sitting around. Get moving! A sedentary lifestyle is one of the most dangerous practices to your health. Start taking long walks at a good pace. See your doctor and then start an exercise routine. Several times per week try to push yourself just a little harder. Before long you will start to feel great and your health will greatly improve.

* If you smoke your blood pressure will rise. The negative health effects of smoking are overwhelming. You are pumping poison in your body and over time it will add up. Blood pressure is one of the things that will continue to climb because of smoking and the damage caused by smoke is almost irreversible.

* Increase your intake of raw health foods. Eat those fruits and vegetables several times per day. Make each meal include healthy items. Over the long run this will pay off and you will maintain your healthy blood pressure.

These three steps are just the beginning. Your body is a balanced system and must be maintained. If you make your health a priority you will out live those who don't. Give my book a read if you care about your health and want to increase your energy and live longer.
