Metabolism: the importance of a balanced body. What to do to keep your body in balance

Many people wonder if there is a connection between their metabolic system and the way the function in life? If there is a relationship between metabolism and the level of energy? The answer is: YES. In this article you learn how to increase your metabolism and therefore your vitality. But first of all: what is metabolism?
Metabolism is a collection of chemical reactions that takes place in the body's cells to convert the fuel in the food that we eat into the energy needed to power everything we do, from moving to thinking to growing. Specific proteins in the body control these chemical reactions of metabolism, and each chemical reaction is coordinated with other body functions. In fact, thousands of metabolic reactions happen at the same time -all regulated by the body- to keep our cells healthy and working. Basically, it is a vital process for all life forms (and not only for humans). If metabolism stops, a living thing dies.
After food is eaten, the human body starts to break down this food into proteins and fat, the fuel that keep the body running. These compounds are absorbed by the blood, which transports them to the cells. Within these cells the "metabolizing process" takes place: the energy is used or stored and toxins are being separated. When the metabolism of body chemicals is blocked or defective, it can cause a build-up of toxic substances in the body or a deficiency of substances needed for normal body function, either of which can lead to serious symptoms.
How can the metabolic process get blocked and what do you have to do to avoid this
Metabolism is a natural process. Again, the body cells use the fuel to keep the body going. What it can not use directly, will be stored for later (as fat). What it can not use at all (toxins), the body will break down and eliminate via several organs. When this natural process is in balance, we feel fit and energetic, when this fragile balance is interrupted, we will feel lethargic and apathetic.
There are many ways to disturb this balance by adding to much toxins to the body. Our system can't process those toxins anymore and gets disturbed. The most common reasons are:
    * the use of cigarettes, caffeine, alcohol and drugs, products the body can
       not absorb or use and therefore will create extra toxins within our system;
    * the consumption of to much fat and sugar which lead to more toxins;
    * the use of processed foods which contain less or zero nutrients;
    * the use of to much preservatives in stead of fresh food;
    * stress !

Fortunately, the body is very well developed and capable to function even if the metabolic process is blocked or disturbed. But it is at the expense of your energy and at the end, your health. The best advice to avoid this is to give your body a hand now and then by detoxing your body.
