Mini Facelifts are Very Popular

By: Aazdak Alissimmo No matter where in the world you are, from Miami to New York, Los Angeles or even in Paris, you may have noticed a trend of people wanting to look younger. Facelifts are one of the best ways to achieve this goal, and they are also some of the most popular ways to look younger.

Of course, there are plenty of other options to try before getting your face operated on. There are creams and other external treatments that can really make a difference in the way that your skin looks and feels. Laser resurfacing can also help your skin to have a youthful glow and shine.

Other alternatives to facelifts include the ever popular Botox injections for wrinkles that are around the brow line, and dermal fillers such as Restylane for wrinkles found in the mouth area. These can help with minor wrinkles, and delay the need for a facelift for a few years.

Sometimes, however, other treatments don't work and you just have to go for the big guns. In these cases, the surgical step known as a facelift may be your only option. For many years, patients had just one choice in facelifts - the full facelift, a lengthy procedure with a lengthy cut.

Today, even the full facelift usually does not require such a drastic amount of cutting. Small incisions can usually be made in the hairline in order to pull skin and tissue to a tight appearance, cutting any excess tissue and skin away leaving the face looking younger and less wrinkled.

Full facelifts are no longer the only options for people wanting to get a facelift - if you do not have wrinkles or issues covering your entire face, you may want to try the mini facelift. The mini facelift can be used when a patient has wrinkles on just half of their face, the lower half, and/or saggy jowls.

Less surgery means that you may not even need general anesthesia for this procedure - depending on your doctor's preference. You may be able to have local anesthetic shots along with a sedative in order to have the mini facelift performed in the plastic surgeon's office.

Incisions for the mini facelift are different - they are smaller, and usually found only around the ear. The procedure is much the same, however, with tissues being pulled up and occasionally removed, then sutured to give a smoother and more tight appearance to the skin of the face.

While the mini facelift is not for everyone, it is a good option for those people who need to have work done in the lower areas of their face, but don't want to have to have an entire facelift surgery. This surgery works well for many people, but be sure to discuss the risks and results with your doctor.
