Open letter to Mr. Gordon B. Hinckley, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

By: Laura Popescu To his excellence, Mr. President Gordon B. Hickley

Mr. President,

My name is Eugen Radulescu and I have a serious health problem.

In the morning of 1 August 1995, I suffered a retinal detachment in my right eye and since then not a single doctor in Romania could treat and repair my eye. The lack of sight in my right eye induces a permanent stress, which has since led then to a worsening state of my health.

I am retired and poor, and nobody in this country will help me.

I come to you, with a plea to the Church that you honorably lead, to help sponsor me with an operation in one of the specialized hospitals in the USA (as an example, it might be the Duke Eye Center, from Durham, NC – the Duke International Patient Center, or any other experienced hospital).

After the success of the surgery I could restart work, as an engineer in one of the companies from your community.

In continuation, I present my resume.

Respectfully yours,

Eugen Radulescu (
