Quit Smoking Tips: Breaking the Habit

Once a person has become addicted to smoking, no amount of threats of lung cancer, heart problems, leg amputations and even death, can make a person quit just easily. While there are many quit smoking tips out there, without determination and moral support, they end up simply as words.

In an attempt to arrest this worldwide problem, concerned individuals and health organizations have come up with many websites, pamphlets and brochures on smoking and quit smoking tips. With the increasing dangers of smoking, quit smoking tips should all the more be given a lot of importance. Unfortunately, that is not always the case, with many people opting not to know the truth.

Most often, these diseases lead to death. Sadly, though, in spite of it all, some people still continue to smoke. They will rather not read or know the facts about how smoking kills both people and the environment than give up smoking altogether.

One of the first things to do when trying in quit smoking tips is to recognize the problem as existing. Tell yourself over and over again that smoking kills and that you want to quit --- now or never. Run these words through your head countless of times until you, yourself, become convinced that quitting smoking is what you really want to do.

Moreover, go and tell everyone you care about of your decision to end up smoking. Involve your family members and friends in your battle against smoking. Family and friends have an important role to play in motivating you to pursue your goal.

Moreover, have a gum handy, or a hard candy, or even a popsicle stick. Chew on any of them if you feel the need to smoke. Chewing will keep your mouth busy and so it gradually lessens your need to smoke.

Another tip to stop smoking is avoiding temptation at all cost. Remove anything in your house that will remind you of smoking. Get rid of your lighters, ashtrays, and unused cigarette sticks. And avoid going to places, like bars and disco clubs, where you are likely to be tempted to smoke. If ever you have to go out, choose a restaurant with a non-smoking area.
