While it is true some people are turning to these other products many people don't want to do it on their own.

As the owner of such a business your job is to keep them from thinking about buying such products. You need to continue to carefully promote the many benefits of your tanning salon. You need to do all you can to get them to come in again this year. Those who have tanned at the salon for years will be less likely to abandon you.

The days of just offering tanning beds and booths are in the past too if you want to keep customers happy. Many of them are looking for immediate results and you can now give it to them. There are tanning showers that spray a mist that will last for up to ten days. There are people that can apply an airbrush tan to customers that looks very natural.

Promote how convenient that a tanning salon is. Many self tanners can be time consuming to put on. It can also be hard to reach your back and so you need someone else to do it. At a tanning salon you can get in and out without any problems. What you will be left with is a gorgeous looking tan.

While you do need to make a profit, you need to balance the prices so that you don't cause customers to self tan. They need to find the value in what you offer so that they can fit it into their budget. They need to know that coming in to tan is a great way to pamper themselves too. It gives them time to relax and it can help improve their outlook for the rest of the day.

Many customers will have questions and you need to be able to answer them. All of the staff you hire needs to be educated in your tanning practices. They need to know what the customer can expect. If the staff doesn't appear to have a clue then you will lose customers. They can be just as clueless at home with self tanning products. They will value your tanning salon though if you can be there for them.

You also need to offer great products. Again, knowing about them is important. When a person sees self tanning products at the store they don't know what will work well for them. Therefore they will be less likely to buy them. If your staff takes the time thought to discuss the products available that will help each person with their tan based on their skin tone they will be encouraged to buy and use it.

It is important for owners of tanning salons to realize the threat that lingers with self tanning products. Knowing what you are up against can help you to develop great strategies to fight against it. People love to buy what is familiar so if you offer them something that works well for them they will have no reason to look at the various self tanning products out there.
