Stop Smoking!

However, once you quit smoking for good, it is one of the proudest accomplishments of your life. Don't despair if you start back up and have to stop smoking more then once. This is a very hard habit to break and may take a couple attempts to accomplish quitting permanently.

The initial step toward not smoking is to fix a day for stopping once and for all. Up to that time you can keep puffing, although you might want to attempt to cut down. The day you choose should be no more than 7 to 14 days in the future, and you should let your friends, acquaintances, relatives and colleagues know when it is. The more people you tell, the less likely you are to back out.

There are a variety of websites available that provide online programs to facilitate quitting smoking. Many social networking sites permit you to choose a quit date and provide a lot of information. In addition, other people that are also trying to quit can provide encouragement. Resources such as these can truly make a difference in your efforts to stop smoking.

When you've decided on the day when you'll stop smoking, you might want to jump right in and stop completely on that date. Try especially hard not to reach for a cigarette in places where you used to smoke (maybe the inside of your car, for example, or a neighborhood bar or restaurant.) If you follow this advice, you'll remove yourself from some tempting situations, and be well prepared to succeed.

To successfully quit smoking, you first must decide that this is what you are going to do, and pick a date. You will also need to change your routine as to when and where you are most likely to smoke. Instead of having a cigarette with your morning coffee while watching the morning news, try having tea and sit outside, without the cigarette. After you eat, go for a short walk.
