Surviving Constipation With Success

By: Richard Smart. When you are plagued with a temporary bout of constipation you may want to reach for an over-the-counter medication for relief. But, is it really the best decision? In any case, constipation may be signaling you toward other health issues that may require you see a medical professional. However, it could be that your irregularity should be examined by looking at your diet instead of only masking symptoms.

Failure to begin dealing with constipation from the core cause rather than just treating the system may backfire. This approach could lead to a worsening of present digestive system disorders and might even adversely affect entire gastrointestinal tract! In addition to the foregoing, using substances to just make the constipation go away might train your digestive tract to wait for the artificial stimuli before voiding.

Begin with an honest assessment of your nutritional intake. Is it healthy and balanced and do you consume proteins and carbohydrates? Or are you following a fad diet that has you decidedly lopsided in the carbohydrate or protein department? Constipation almost always points to a potential nutritional deficiency as well as a fiber shortage!

Reducing fast food and junk food in your diet is a good idea if you're concerned about your food intake. To get rid of constipation, try increasing your fiber intake. To naturally increase your fiber, you can eat more vegetables or add to your nutritional intake with fiber wafers and prune juice.

You should be sure to look at your eating habits if you want to get rid of constipation. When you eat, be sure to take your time to enjoy the food leisurely, chewing it and utilizing water as a natural intestinal moisturizer. You will not being doing your body any favors in digestion if you eat quickly, while driving, while working or while drinking soft drinks.

The process of digestion starts in the mouth and when the saliva puts digestive enzymes into the food, whatever you eat is prepared properly for stomach entry. If the process is not properly done and the food is not prepared for the nutrient intake taking place further in the process, the digestive system is not at its peak advantage. If this occurs often, it only seems logical constipation will occur.

If you're on medications or take nutritional supplements, even if you do the right thing with your diet you may still have an ill functioning digestive system. It's best to ensure your medications or vitamins are not expired. Of course, you can also choose to take them with prune juice, to stimulate digestion.

The human digestive system can be impacted greatly by stress. Of course you can't completely live without stress; you can learn to deal with stress in ways that are healthy. By doing this, the stress impact will be reduced on the body in general and more specifically on the gastrointestinal tract. To relieve stress, trying yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises can be quite effective.
