If added together with a healthy diet and enough relaxation, exercise can be a useful tool in ensuring your reach optimal health. If you are like a great majority of the people who are primarily inactive you can improve your health by implementing even moderate activity on a regular basis. To be beneficial the physical exercise you carry out does not need to be overly strenuous to help achieve significant health benefits.
Once you begin even more health benefits can be achieved by increasing the duration, frequency or intensity of the workout, or even all of the above. As well as the obvious effective weight loss benefits of exercise there are also other health benefits which can be achieved by raising a sweat. Here are some great points as to what exercise can achieve for us.
Exercise has the ability to reduce our risk of dying prematurely
Exercise can reduce our risk of dying from certain illnesses which include cancers, stroke, heart disease, arthritis and diabetes.
Help us lose overall weight by reducing our level of body fat. It can reduce our cholesterol and increase our metabolic rate.
Exercise can improve our immune system ability to fight disease and improves blood circulation and oxygen for our vital organs.
Exercise can prevent against type 2 diabetes by increasing our bodies insulin resistance
Exercise leads to higher levels of energy and increases our endurance levels (think bedroom).
It can help avoid premature aging, improving our mental and physical wellbeing.
Exercise can protect our bones and joints from developing certain diseases and disorders.
Exercise has been linked with increases in brain activity resulting in enhancing our creativity and imagination. It is also said to improve reaction time and math skills.
Exercise can increase your self esteem making us feel better about ourselves and increasing our confidence.
Exercise triggers a release of chemicals in our body known as endorphins. Endorphins act on the brain to give you an overall feeling of well being and happiness; the same chemical that is released when you in love.
And lastly exercise can help you sleep better at night. Although you do have to remember not to exercise to close to bedtime as the high received from exercising may keep you awake. At least leave a few hours between exercise and bedtime. These should be enough reasons to get you up off the couch and active again, even if it is only for 10-15 minutes a day. You have to start somewhere and your body and your health will thank you for your efforts.
