Tile is a good floor surface for bathrooms, as they are durable and will be easy to keep clean. Tile flooring will give your bathroom a look of opulence, and if you install it yourself, you can have it for much less money.

Choose tile carefully. Make sure tiles are equal sizes. It is much better to spend a little more and buy quality tile that is uniform in size rather than have an unattractive looking job. Putting down tile that are unequal in size will make ragged grout lines, and leave you with a poor looking job.

The majority of building suppliers have information instructing how to install tile, and it will help you to review the information so you will be prepared with needed information, required tools and supplies before you begin.

When laying tile in a bath, there are one or two odd shape cuts to go around pipes, the toilet base etc. For these cuts you will need a tile cutter. Most of the pieces will be installed just as they are.

You'll need another bath facility until your tile is finished. The tile should not be disturbed while it is getting set and in between steps.

Preparing the surface should be done before getting underway. The needed prep work is going to depend on the materials and condition of the old floor, and what is covering it. Putting tile over certain surfaces may involve an extra step.

One other item to evaluate, is the support factor. Bathrooms often contain heavy objects . A cast iron tub are very heavy, and tile will add more weight. Evaluate weight factors and the support for your floor.
