Turn Whole Food Into A Quick Way To Lose Weight

By: John Whelan The yearly New Years Resolution looms over us every January and the tradition of getting tough with our excess weight is a major challenge. The quickest way to lose weight besides dangerous surgery and diet pills is a balanced diet and exercise. Here are some powerful foods that will change your body for the better and increase energy levels.

1. Just say no To refined sugars found in a many processed foods. In all reality, they are foods touched by man. If food is packaged and processed by someone it most likely has refined sugars. Cereal is a great example, always keep away from large amounts of salt, sugar and fat. Whole wheat cereal like shredded wheat is the only ingredient you need with nothing else in the box, top with fruit and skim milk or unsweetened soy milk.

2. Balance is a key to good nutrition and the quick way to lose weight without starving yourself. Skim milk gives you much needed protein for muscle development. Whole wheat gives us good carbohydrates for much needed energy and natural peanut butter provides healthy fat to maintain brain function and development. If you eat this combination of food throughout the day and add in cardiovascular workouts, you will burn the fat in no time.

3. Protein is nature's fat burner. Our bodies take roughly three hours to digest the meals we consume and lean protein (i.e. lean chicken & turkey) are what we call thermogenic. If you consume a meal every three hours, you will never hunger for junk food. Besides the norm, consume fish like salmon and trout. Other protein sources include egg whites, cottage cheese (non-fat of course) and soy protein to supplement your other sources.

4. Carbohydrates are your friend - really! The no carb diets look good on paper but that's about all. Atkins says you can eat as much meat as you want just no carbs. We need energy in order to properly work out. Complex Carbohydrates (the good ones) give us this energy. Spinach, Kale (and other leafy greens), Broccoli, Brussel Sprouts, Red Peppers, Tomatoes, Legumes (beans, lentils), Yams, Sweet Potatoes, Barley and sugar free oatmeal are excellent carbs.

5. Water is the nectar of life and should be a big part of your nutrition plan. Hydrating your body is necessary to remove harmful toxins and keep our immune systems at peak performance. Hydrating also cuts down on hunger pains giving you that full feeling.

6. Exercise. Go to the gym and hire a personal trainer. They know their stuff and can get you started down the right path. Three to four times a week is recommended to achieve results. If you cannot get to the gym, try working out at home. It takes more discipline, but can be a great challenge to overcome.

Now you know the quick way to lose weight is to eat right and workout with a balanced program that will help you gain strength, stamina and a healthy body for life.
