Understanding How To Raise Your Bichon Frise Pup

By: Mary Stevenson. After months and months of trying to figure out what type of puppy you want and which kinds are the cutest, you finally have decided to bring home a Bichon Frise pup and you have your heart set on a particular one. But it is extremely important to know exactly what you are getting yourself into. This dog has a mind that is all its own and will try to test you once in a while to see what it can and cannot get away with, just like a small child.
Their stubbornness is something that will stay with them their entire lives including after they grow into adult dogs so you better be prepared on how to handle it. Bichon Frise puppies are cute of course but they require a lot of work in order to make them a great addition to the house and one that no one will regret.
One of the things that most people start to tackle when their Bichon Frise pup comes home is potty training as this is the one thing that if left unattended to, can turn into a costly mess. Plus, this breed is famous for wanting to take extra time in learning how to be potty trained for one reason or another so the sooner that you get started the better off you will be.
So when you first bring home your new family member, potty training may be the first thing you want to get started on. Try not to let setbacks upset you too much, as that is a natural thing no matter what type of breed you are dealing with. Just give the love and support a child would need when potty training and you will be on your way to a successfully potty trained dog.
Also, make sure that you never instill fear into your dog as this is abuse and can come back to bite you in the ear, literally. You want your Bichon Frise pup to see you as their leader and master but also as a friend. It is much better and safer to have the respect of Bichon Frise puppies rather then having them fear you.
It is much more exciting, fun and rewarding to have your pup love you and to respect you as you will get much better behavior from a dog that respects you instead of fear you.
That rage can then come back on you or someone else. So never hit or scream at your puppy, as it just simply is not needed at all for the training of your pup.
Go by the book and take on Bichon Frise puppy care with great concern and caution and you will be rewarded in the end when you have a loving and well behaved dog who is completely house broken.
