Useful Advise About Asthma

By: Kay Brown In a relatively short space of time, asthma has become one of the most serious health conditions around the world; year on year, the figure for those contracting the condition rises. Asthma is a chronic, treatable disease that causes narrowing of airways in the lungs in response to allergens, making it difficult to breathe. When not treated properly, respiratory conditions can interfere with the daily life of the patient and cause breathing complications that can even lead to death.

Keeping a constant check on their condition is the most important step for an asthma sufferer. The medical treatment given to patients will depend on the severity of their condition and will be one of three areas which are; preventing the attacks and then providing relief if they do occur, in addition to supplying medical treatment for serious attacks.

Whilst all sufferers will be given some form of Bronchodilator to help with short term relief for attacks, patients who only have a mild form will probably never need to use anything else. However, patients who experience regular attacks although they may be mild, will probably use a low-dose glucocorticoid or a mastcell stabilizer which would also be used in conjunction with a standard reliever. Those who experience severe attacks will require a stronger treatment with oral glucocorticoids.

Asthmatics must also identify the triggers that cause the allergic reaction in them and find ways to reduce or eliminate them. This can help the keep an eye out and avoid the factors that will trigger an attack. Medical science has now confirmed that the poorer the air quality the greater the chance that this and other respiratory problems will occur.

Although the specific medications can help the situation it is far better if they can be avoided where possible. They can cause serious side effects if used on a regular basis such as impotence, liver damage, depression, even tiredness and dizzy spells. Pharmaceutical drugs are formulated to make the body's own immune system to take over but more people are now using natural medicines which are treating the cause of the respiratory condition instead.

Every attack causes the body to become weak due to the stress placed upon it, so to help calm the body down and make it stronger, the drugs used have a catalyst . The catalysts contained in the natural medications are different as they do not have any side-effects so reduce the stress on the system naturally.

Other asthma sufferers are finding that doing certain breathing techniques taught by eastern yoga disciples along with buteyko and pranayam, can help them feel alot better which improves their situation and promote good health.

Eating well and insuring you are getting lots of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants in your body can go a long ways in boosting the natural defences of the immune system. And if you do not want to leave large amounts of drugs in your system then try a more natural herbal method of treatment to help control asthma. The main focus however, should be on the Asthma patient's should learn to control their own condition should be a major focus of their controling their astma condition.
