Yoga For The Rest of US - Gwinnett Yoga Center

By: Dolche Huggins Yoga remains a difficult issue to discuss in this century. It is a pity that modern day globalization has caused this amazing ancient art to be viewed as a distant and mysterious concept. It is amazing to see the whole philosophy fuelling yoga's methodology being reduced to a simple concept, justified by the need to make it easy for the layperson to understand.

To be on the safe side, it is good to gain a thorough understanding of a particular subject before you begin to speak of it from an expert's viewpoint. It becomes a distorted view when westerners perceive yoga as a physical activity. The need for simplification has diminished the wisdom of true yoga into a superficial speech that fails to recognize the real purpose and meaning of this wonderful philosophy.

In reality, yoga practice is a very sacred journey that has roots buried deep within the scriptures of an ancient Holy book. In India, yoga is considered a very spiritual experience that has a physical aspect to it. Most westerners would describe yoga as a physical practice. Most westerners are aware of the strange symbols associated with yoga practice, but often they are misunderstood. It became a popular sport in the west. The allure of yoga as an effective way to gain inner peace and balance has beckoned many to embrace this activity as well. It also does a good job attracting those who wish to obtain inner peace and balance in the midst of the hectic modern lifestyle.

People are fascinated by the claims made by the yoga masters who often come with these promises. Research shows that yoga has been highly misunderstood in the west and therefore plenty of fatal errors were detected in the way yoga is implemented.

The fast paced lifestyle of the western civilization left no chance for them to indulge in quiet, introspective moments to really understand this concept. The western busy lifestyles certainly do not provide much space to contemplate on this philosophy.

Most Americans do not possess the time to spend moments in meaningful sessions of quiet meditation, which is essential for success when embracing this practice. The greed for power and material wealth which is integral in the western culture has no place in the Hindu culture. Therefore, it is believed that the westerners will never reach the pinnacles of true wisdom dictated by the parameters of the Hindu religion.

It is impossible to attain true wisdom that is aligned with the real philosophy of yoga in this state of mind. One crucial aspect essential for a successful meditative session is time and patience. The westerners do not place a high degree of importance in the attainment of philosophical wisdom, as it does for the accumulation of massive wealth and gaining power.

Yoga is practiced more as a form of recreational activity to fulfill a stylish lifestyle. If you are interested to take up yoga as a part of your lifestyle, you can get hold of some of those materials that are available, promoting this practice as a form of sports. Fans of famous people who later become fake gurus are adamant about supporting their idol and his practice. Obedient disciples of this distorted form of yoga have become agents of growth of this unhealthy philosophy.
